01Who we are
Layer Beauty School (“Layer”, “we”, “us”) is a modelling, makeup and hair school at K-4 University Hill Villas, Block 1, Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi 74200, Pakistan. We decide how the personal information described here is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.
This policy covers information we collect through layerschoolpk.com, by phone, WhatsApp and email, and when you enrol on a course. It does not cover other websites we link to; they have their own policies.
02What we collect
When you contact us or book a trial class
- Your name, phone or WhatsApp number and email address.
- The course you’re interested in and anything you choose to tell us in your message.
When you enrol
- Your date of birth, address and a copy of your CNIC — or, for students under 18, a B-Form.
- For students under 18: the parent’s or guardian’s name, CNIC and contact details, and their signed consent form.
- Payment records: amounts, dates and instalment schedule. Card and bank details are handled by the bank, not stored by us.
- Attendance, practical assessments and certificates issued.
- Skin sensitivities or allergies you tell us about, so we can choose safe products for practicals. We only record this with your permission.
When you visit the website
- Technical information your browser sends automatically: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed and the site that referred you.
- Information stored in cookies, described in section 04.
03How we use it
- To answer enquiries and arrange trial classes. We rely on your request to contact you.
- To run your course: timetables, attendance, assessments and certificates. This is necessary for our agreement with you.
- To take payments and keep accounts, as tax law requires.
- To keep people safe during practicals, using any allergy information you give us.
- To tell you about new intakes and events, only if you’ve agreed. Every message includes a way to stop them.
- To improve the website and measure our advertising, using cookies where you have not opted out.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
05Google Ads & opting out
We use Google Ads to advertise our courses. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this website and to other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on those visits.
You can find out how Google uses this information in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can turn off personalised advertising at any time:
- Google Ads Settings Turn off personalised ads from Google, or change the interests Google uses.
- NAI opt-out Opt out of interest-based ads from Network Advertising Initiative member companies.
- Digital Advertising Alliance The WebChoices tool for participating companies.
- Your Online Choices For visitors in the European Union and the United Kingdom.
Opting out stops personalised ads. You may still see ads, but they won’t be based on your browsing. Opt-outs are stored in a cookie, so they need to be set again if you clear your cookies or change browsers.
06Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which courses are viewed most, and whether people find the contact details. Google processes this information on our behalf and may store it on servers outside Pakistan.
To stop Google Analytics collecting data in any browser, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
07Photographs
Photography is part of the teaching. Practicals, portfolio shoots and the end-of-course runway show are photographed.
- Your portfolio images are yours to use. We give you the final files.
- We only put photos of you on our website, social media or printed material if you agree in writing. For students under 18, a parent or guardian must agree.
- You can withdraw that consent at any time. We will remove the photos from our website and accounts within 14 days. We can’t recall printed material that has already been handed out.
The photographs on this website are licensed stock images from Unsplash. The people in them are not students or staff.
08Students under 18
Our courses are open to students aged 16 and over. We take extra care with information about students under 18:
- Consent. A parent or guardian must sign the enrolment and consent form before a student under 18 starts, and must be present at enrolment.
- Less information. We collect only what we need to run the course and contact the guardian in an emergency.
- No ad targeting. We do not knowingly use personal information about anyone under 18 for personalised advertising, and we don’t add them to marketing lists without a guardian’s consent.
- Photographs. These are never published without written consent from a guardian (see section 07).
- Guardian access. Parents and guardians can ask to see, correct or delete their child’s information by contacting us.
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, email privacy@layerschoolpk.com and we will delete it.
10How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to enrolment: 12 months.
- Student records (enrolment, attendance, certificates): five years after your course ends, so we can confirm your certificate if an employer asks.
- Payment records: as long as Pakistani tax law requires, currently six years.
- Consent forms: for as long as the photos or data they cover are in use, plus one year.
After that, we securely delete electronic records and shred paper ones.
11Security
Paper forms are kept in a locked cabinet in the studio office. Electronic records are password-protected, and only the director and front-desk staff can see them. The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you promptly and say what we are doing about it.
12Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Access: give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your information, unless we have to keep it by law (for example, payment records).
- Withdraw consent for photographs or marketing messages, at any time.
- Object to your information being used for advertising or analytics.
- Portability: give you your information in a common electronic format.
To make a request, email privacy@layerschoolpk.com or ask at the front desk. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We reply within 30 days, free of charge. Parents and guardians can make these requests for students under 18.
Depending on where you live, local law may give you more rights. For example, visitors in the European Union or the United Kingdom have rights under the GDPR, including the right to complain to their data protection authority.
13Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we will tell current students by email or WhatsApp before it takes effect.
